A Ring for Every Finger

These rings from BHLDN are understated and gorgeous.
They look as great worn to dinner with jeans as to an awards show with an evening gown.

Chelsea Market – NYC Top Ten List

Chelsea Market is a truly unique shopping experience. It is a treasure trove of gourmet shops in intimate nooks and crannies. They are  housed in the historic building that was built for National Biscuit Company (now Nabisco) in the1890’s. Each is unique and appetizing.

You can spend a wonderful day exploring the shops, eating lunch and taking home fun and varied selections for dinner. One vendor specializes in flavored salt and wonderful vinegar, another dozens of varieties of nuts, one stall has fresh flowers and another features handmade crepes. Other delicacies include fruit and vegetables straight from local farms, freshly baked bread, biscuits and jam, gelato and hot cookies.

A present from Chelsea Market Baskets will be greatly appreciated. They have a delightful selection of gourmet items to fill their wonderful baskets with.

Lucy’s Whey is a cheese lover’s dream. In addition to  their selection of unique artisanal cheese from around the world, they offer various grilled cheese panini. All are served on Amy’s Bread’s ciabatta with a drizzle of estate-grown, extra-virgin Portuguese olive oil.  I enjoyed their classic sandwich of melted sharp Prairie Breeze Cheddar (Milton Creamery, Iowa), a spread of Spanish figs and  honey.

The dramatic interior of this wonderful building.
Chelsea Market is unlike any building constructed today.

Spices and Tease offers a dizzying array of tea and unique spices from around the globe.

The Clambake from “The Lobster Place” comes with a Maine lobster, Prince Edward Mussels, steamers, little neck clams, new potatoes and corn. Even crackers and bibs are included to take home.
If you cannot wait to get home, you can have your lobster steamed on site to enjoy immediately.

Pryor Events are definitely fans of Chelsea Market.

FALL

The record heat in Southern California has recently given way to a delightful fall. While the change is not as dramatic as in some parts of the country it is still quite obvious. There is a bit of snow visible in our mountains, a few trees have changed color and there is a pleasant chill in the air.

Here are a few photos from fall events we planned.

At Pryor Events we love weddings at private homes – especially overlooking the sea. This wedding was one of our favorites.
We are delighted it was featured on Style Me Pretty this week. It was an enchanting wedding filled with meaningful details.

From Pryor Events
The wedding took place at a lovely Malibu estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Marisa and Ezra wanted their wedding to be unique and gorgeous and also very inviting and warm. Every detail was important to them, but they also wanted to be careful to not go over the top in any way. The ceremony took place in a garden overlooking the sparkling ocean. The couple’s good friend served as their officiant and the ceremony was extremely touching, funny and personal. Marisa and Ezra’s love of wine was reflected in their cocktail hour. There were several wine and charcuterie tasting stations placed on rustic wine barrel tables in custom cabanas. Guests dined beneath hanging crystal balls of light on a grand stone courtyard. They sat at wooden tables that were assembled on-site. An eclectic mix of chairs, benches and sofas completed the look.
The menu was classic and perfect. You can have the most amazing setting but if the food is not fantastic nothing else matters. Marisa and Ezra were shocked that a wedding meal could taste so amazing! As Ezra has a weakness for fries, each table had cones of beet, sweet potato and truffled Yukon gold fries with assorted dipping sauces. After dinner guests moved to a large deck for dessert, cake and dancing. Sofas and antique cocktail tables were brought in to complete this indoor/outdoor space. An electric violinist and a percussionist accompanied the DJ’s songs. Guests who did not wish to dance played a hole or two of golf on the home’s putting green overlooking the ocean. Ezra’s favorite team, The LA Kings, were in a final game of The Stanley Cup Playoffs the very same night as his wedding, so Marisa surprised him with a life-sized cake of the Stanley Cup. English toffee, chocolate drizzled pretzels and caramel with notes from the newlyweds were appreciated by guests who enjoyed them on the shuttles after they departed.

From the Bride and Groom
Like many couples, we met through Facebook — though not on the site, but rather at the company as we were both working there. We became fast friends and quickly went from being office buddies to spending almost every night hanging out, drinking wine and watching trashy TV together. After about a year of fighting it, the spark finally ignited between us, and we took the leap to being more than just friends. Five and a half years later, we were tying the knot in Malibu in front of all our closest friends and family. We wanted our wedding to be really nice and elegant without being pretentious or flashy, and more than anything, we wanted everything to be very fun. Our good friend officiated, adding a personal touch to the ceremony. We both have a passion for food and wine, so we put a strong focus on those elements throughout our wedding weekend. Thanks to our amazing wedding planner Julie Pryor and the all-star team she arranged for the day, our wedding weekend went better than we ever could have imagined.

How much fun is this for a Holiday Party!
We took over the roof at the London for this wonderful event.
We covered the deck in lush white carpet
and brought in furniture and dramatic lighting.

The Ivy

All seems right with the world when you are dining on  charming patio at The Ivy

Friends and clients often ask me which L A restaurant is my overall favorite.
I always have the same answer – The Ivy. I am partial to the location on Robertson Blvd. Where do I start? The Ivy is inviting and comfortable. It does not take itself too seriously.
The waiters are attentive without being intrusive. The patio is lovely. The quaint  indoor rooms are cozy as well.
And the food is glorious! Every single item is excellent – from their bread to the dessert. A few of my personal favorites are the corn chowder, vegetable soup, crab cakes, crab meat salad with spicy thousand island dressing, grilled vegetable salad, fried chicken and mouth watering New York Steak. Save room for the best chocolate chip cookies and their classic ice cream sundae. One of the reasons The Ivy is packed every night is the fact that they have kept their menu classic. Many restaurants try too hard and the result is mediocre food with too many ingredients that just do not work together. The chefs at The Ivy always get it right. The food is consistent, seasoned perfectly and the ingredients are always fresh.

Pryor Events are big fans of The Ivy.

Beverly Hills Brownie Company

The inviting Beverly Hills Brownie Company

I am asked to try sweets of all varieties almost weekly. Most of the time they are too rich or too sweet or simply lacking in flavor.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover a wonderful new shop at 315 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills that bakes fantastic brownies. My favorites are the petite brownies that are the perfect size and just melt in your mouth. This sweet shop is the brainchild of Bobbie Greenfield.

After a successful career as a marketing executive, Bobbie Greenfield found herself facing the economic challenges that plagued Corporate America during the recent recession.

Looking for a less stressful and more creative approach she turned to her favorite pastime – Baking. Bobbie combined old family recipes and experimented to create her own unique goods.

In 2009 after perfecting her signature brownies, Bobbie transitioned her at-home hobby of baking into a commercial venture. She first launched a website and just a few months ago opened this wonderful retail shop in Beverly Hills.
The brownies come in eighteen interesting flavors such as cream cheese chocolate chip, peanut brittle, mocha latte and of course the classic brownie baked with or without nuts.
The brownies are great favors as well as appreciated gifts.
Pryor Events are looking forward to working with  Beverly Hills Brownie Company.
